Terminal Opener - Summer/Seasonal

SUMMARY
The Terminal Opener is responsible for both terminal and peripheral operations in the early morning at either the Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal (BSPCT), Pier 66 or the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal (SCCT), Pier 91. Cruise specific duties include ensuring security officers are at their assigned posts, certain gates are unlocked, enabling cruise mode in the access control panel, activating the surveillance system and other duties as assigned. The primary responsibility of this position is to open/prepare the terminal for cruise operations.
 
The Terminal Opener will report to the Duty Manager as well as the General Manager and Security Manager, and assist both as directed.
 
SCHEDULE/HOURS:
Seasonal employment: Late April through September with some training in early April
Friday - Sunday and Tuesday at SCCT (and every other Monday)
Friday - Sunday at BSPCT (and a few weekdays)
Shift starts at 4:30am
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Cruise:
- Open the terminal for security officers
- Assist with security sweep of facility
- Coordinate vessel deliveries with security
- Crowd control
- Traffic Control as needed
- Other duties as assigned
 
Terminal:
- Maintenance Log
- Facility walk-through and maintenance coordination
- Inventory and stock level maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None
 
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Fast pace operational experience preferred
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with computer and MS Office required
- Knowledge of other security and operations equipment helpful but not required
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standing and walking for two-thirds or more of time on cruise operation days
- Must be available weekends or other non-business hours as required 
- Commitment for entire cruise season required (May - September, some training in April)

- $16.00/hour ($15.50 with $0.50/hour retaining bonus)
